Within the framework of commemorating the Arbaeen anniversary of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), and sensing what this occasion represents of solid religious, humanitarian and national values, the University of Shatrah has harnessed its service, logistical and human capabilities to support the crowds of visitors heading on foot to Holy Karbala, in confirmation of its societal role and contribution to serving visitors during one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.
The campaign was sponsored by the President of the University of Shatrah, Professor Dr. Bassem Abdul Hussein Al-Ghazi, and under the direct supervision of the Administrative Assistant to the President of the University, Professor Dr. Raed Majeed Jabbar, as it mobilized its service and technical personnel from the Office Affairs Department and the supporting departments, to implement an integrated service campaign along the visitors’ road in the Shatrah district.
The campaign included distributing water and ice, filling water tanks, as well as removing waste from the road leading to the visitors’ path, in addition to providing a number of basic supplies that contribute to supporting the services provided to visitors and providing them with comfort during the visitation ceremony.
These efforts come within the University of Shatrah’s approach to enhancing its societal responsibility, consolidating the culture of volunteerism, and active participation in humanitarian and national initiatives, which reflects its commitment to its academic mission and its role in serving society, and translating the values of giving and cohesion embodied by the Arbaeen visit into field work that contributes to serving visitors and supporting the Husseini processions.
