The Computer Networks Lab, using Cisco Packet Tracer, is the core applied environment in Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. This laboratory simulates real-world network infrastructure and enables students to build, configure and test networks in software without needing to purchase costly physical equipment.

Vision

Leadership in simulating next-generation network infrastructure, and preparing distinguished engineers in the design and management of secure and smart networks, capable of integrating artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies into modern communication environments.

Mission

To provide an interactive learning environment based on Cisco software tools to link the theoretical concepts of networking with practical application. The laboratory focuses on training students in network engineering, data routing, packet switching and troubleshooting connectivity problems, while preparing them to obtain international professional certifications such as CCNA.

Core Laboratory Objectives (Lab Objectives) Network Simulation: enabling students to design network topologies and connect devices (computers, servers, routers, switches).

Cisco IOS proficiency: training students to write commands through the command-line interface (CLI) to configure and set up routers and switches.

IP Addressing: applying subnetting concepts and assigning static and dynamic addresses via the DHCP protocol. Routing and data protection: configuring various routing protocols (such as OSPF, EIGRP and Static Routing) and securing networks using firewalls and access control lists (ACLs).

AI and IoT applications: using Cisco's advanced simulation tools to connect Internet of Things sensors and program them in Python within the network to model smart environments (Smart Cities).
